Triennial Lace Award

The winner of the Triennial Award for 2006 is Margaret Jagger with her bobbin lace work La mer.

The theme for the 2009 award is "The Rainforest".

History of the Award

In 1984, Gabrielle de Mestre Pond urged the National Administrative Committee to hold a competition for lace designed with an Australian theme. She also donated the prize, an antique Brussels lace bertha collar. The winner was voted by the members after publication of the entries. In 1989 the competition was redefined, introducing a judging panel and different lace categories and so the Triennial Lace Award was born.

The competition is designed to further the aims and objectives of the Australian Lace Guild. The awards are held once during each three year term of the NAC, resulting in the awards rotating from state to state each time.
